Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes Wednesday February 12, 2014

In attendance: Jennifer Collard, Rebecca Pratt, Kelly Briggs, Anita Pratt, Jaime L’Heureux, Patrick Fallon, Susan Novak, Kaitlyn Wojnarowicz (7:37)
Also Present: Lindyn Nichols, Matt Javy, Dan Haynes, Gary Kellaher, Sheila Dibb

7:06 Meeting Called to Order Susan Novak

Acceptance of Previous Minutes from January 29, 2014 meeting
-Jen makes a motion to accept minutes, Rebecca second
-All in favor (4-0) (Jaime and Susan abstain as absent/late from previous meeting)

Open Session:

New Business:
Gary K- pool update
        -re-spackle surface
        -can get prices for us
        -need to water blast the scum of the bottom
        -double lot sand- smooth it out
-moving of the snack shack to the front towards the pool-> eliminate the need for paying two people when you only really need one
-going through DPW for water testing
        -fence around the basketball court/resurfacing court our responsibility

Budget review for Recreation and Safeplace with BOS and FINCOM representatives
        -FINCOM-Rec meeting February 27th at 6:30pm
        -Kelly->summary of 53D account and projected pool budget
        -want to make sure we’re showing what they need to see
        -ex: show snack shack total hours instead of how many attendants on at a time
        -put pool repair costs as a capital expense out of the 53D budget
        -Sheila doesn’t think pool/basketball court repairs need to fall on us
        -can Recreation have both a 53D and 53E1/2? Yes, we can
        -questions about Kelly’s salary/hours- what can we decide to do?
        -good time to separate Kelly’s salary out of safe place
        -Kaitlyn->Safe Place expense report- stands at $19,640.34 today
would like her to ex: put what’s collected in August in the months it was supposed to be put towards
looking like Safe Place will end in the black, even with $13,000 for health insurance   
Set Prices for Summer Fun
        8:30-12 $80 week
        8:30-5          $185 week
        7:30-8:30       $25 a week
        Jen makes a motion to approve, Patrick second- all in favor (6-0)
        $100 discount to registering for all weeks
        multichild discount
        Jen makes a motion to approve above discounts, Patrick second- all in favor (6-0)
        $160 pool pass
        dropping non-resident extra fees
        Jen approve above pool rate, Rebecca second- all in favor (6-0)
Jaime makes a motion to get early four passes free or fifth family member free, Jen second- all in favor (6-0)
Safe Place- keep rates the same, evaluate on a year-by-year basis

Easter Egg Hunt- April 12th 9-11am (hunt at 10:30)
        Decorate cookies, crafts, face painting, games, Easter bunny---- then egg hunt
        Cinnamon rolls, coffee, hot chocolate, juice- charge for food
